The Witcher: Old World is an adventure board game that takes players on a journey through a fantastic world full of dangers, mysterious magic, dark secrets, and extraordinary places just waiting to be discovered. The game is set in the fan-favorite Witcher universe, many years before the events of the saga of Geralt of Rivia, during the times when a monster plague ravaged the Continent. Only witchers – professional killers trained to fight creatures hostile to humans – were capable of combating it.

What’s the gameplay?

In The Witcher: Old World, each player chooses one of the five witcher schools and assumes the role of a professional monster killer. While traveling through the vast lands of the Continent, they will uncover their secrets, train in combat, and gain experience. Depending on the length of the game, determined at the beginning, players compete to collect from 4 to 6 Trophies. The first person to gather the required number of them wins, thereby bringing the highest honor and fame to their school.

Trophies can be earned in many ways. The primary method is, as befits witchers, killing monsters. Players can also earn them by fighting for their school’s honor against other witchers in taverns, maximizing their Attributes, as well as completing specific Quests during their journey across the Continent.

During gameplay, players create a unique deck of cards, choosing from a pool of available skills: attacks, dodges, and witcher signs. Players use the deck in combat, where they combine cards into powerful attack combinations and use the special abilities of their witcher school. Quests, skirmishes, and even dice poker allow them to acquire new items and money, as well as develop their skills.

What distinguishes the deluxe version?

The Witcher: Old World – Deluxe Edition is a real treat for all who appreciate aesthetics on the board and detailed components. In addition to all the figurines and tokens available in the standard version, here you receive an additional set of 28 carefully detailed monster figurines known from the Witcher world. A griffin, leshy, bruxa, harpy, ghoul, and many other creatures get their spatial representation, enhancing the aesthetic values of the game and increasing its atmosphere.
